negative adverbials/ certain words or expressions with a negative sense.

Examples
1. Never will I go out with him again!
2. Not only is he obnoxious but he is also stingy!
3. Hardly had I sat down when the telephone rang.
4. Not until he was introduced to me did I realize that he was my boyfriend's father.


- Inversion after
' and so' and 'and neither'

Examples
(and) so
Joyce can sing and so can I.

(and) neither
I don't drink and neither does he.

- Inversion after adverbal + 'to be'

Examples
Standing behind Susan is her sister.


- Inversion in a comparison with an extended subject.

Examples
He studies harder than does any of his classmates.


- Inversion after 'often'

- Inversion in a sentence with 'so' + adjective/adverb + subject + 'that'
