Adverb Pharases

This consists of an adverb (which forms the main part of the adverb phrase) or an adverb and other adverbs. Its function to describe the verb or the adjective.

For Examples

1. Yiyi speaks very eloquently.

2. Paulina Xiu Xiu is quite musically talented.

Adverb Phrase of Time
This answers the question "When?"

For examples

1. Shawn should be home at 5.00 p.m. today.

2. After quite some time, we managed to contact him.


Adverb Phrase of Place
This answers the question "Where?"

For examples

1. I met my girlfriend at a grocery store near my house.

2. We didn't go to the library after classes today.


Adverb Phrase of Manner
This answers the question "How?"

For examples

1. She regarded him with suspicion.

2. They should continue to work hard like before.


Adverb Phrase of Reason
This answers the question "Why?"

For examples

1. The only said all those nice things to flatter her.

2. She threw a temper tantrum to get her own way.
